Terence Theisen, PhD
Senior Scientist – Microbiology

Terence Theisen is a microbiologist and assay development scientist with expertise in microbiology, molecular biology, and spatial biology. At Singletto, Terence leads microbiology research and laboratory development while serving as a scientific lead for translational research programs evaluating Oxafence® technologies. His work spans laboratory assay development, preclinical and clinical study support, and scientific collaborations with healthcare, academic, government, and international partners to generate the evidence supporting new product development, regulatory activities, and commercial adoption.

Prior to joining Singletto, Terence was a scientist at Bruker Spatial Biology (formerly NanoString Technologies), where he led the development of novel workflows for spatial detection of microbial targets and advanced spatial proteomic products. His work included assay development, product validation, protocol development, and cross-functional scientific leadership supporting next-generation research tools for biomedical discovery.

During his doctoral research at Stanford University School of Medicine, Terence studied host-pathogen interactions in the ubiquitous parasite Toxoplasma gondii. His research contributed to the first single-cell transcriptomic atlas of Toxoplasma and provided new insights into the expression of an immunologically relevant family of parasite surface proteins.

Terence earned his PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from Stanford University and bachelor's degrees in Microbiology, Human Biology, and Anthropology from Michigan State University. His scientific expertise combines rigorous experimental design, assay development, and data analysis with a translational focus on advancing technologies from the laboratory into real-world healthcare, public health, and biodefense applications.
